Disabled Adventure Outfitters was started in 1998 with the intention of providing persons with bleeding disorders with a challenging, empowering, educational outdoor experience in order to promote independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem in participants of all ages.
The activities are designed to inspire teens to push past perceived physical and mental limits by participating in activities such as whitewater rafting. This unique experience provides them an opportunity to experience self-infusing in environments such as a campground or even on a raft. This teaches them how to take care of themselves while living the lifestyle they want to live, promoting independence and the importance of adherence to treatment regimens.
For individuals with bleeding disorders or their siblings ages 13 to 19, our adventure camp involves a week of tent camping and cooking our own meals while whitewater rafting in Northern California.
This year's teen program is planned for June 20-23, 2022. Please use the "contact us" page to request an application.
Immediately after our Teen Adventure Camp, families from the bleeding disorder community are invited to join the trip for a weekend of camping and rafting, allowing parents to see the growth their teens have experienced and giving families without teens in the program to share the same experience.
This year's family camp is planned for June 17-19, 2022. Please use the "contact us" page to request more information.
